John came home the day before Thanksgiving, 2006. It was a long tour - nearly a year. It was hard on us all, but we came through with flying color! These were taken at the Welcome Home ceremony held at the Stryker Gym on Ft. Hood.
This Welcome Home Banner faced the soldiers as they entered the gym. It was HUGE!!
Bailey was choose out of the crowd to rally the crowd by running around the gym with flags and get everyone pumped up and excited (like that was going to be hard to do). Then this group of kids were also the first to salute the soldiers as they came into the gym.
The kids and I were decked out in our UT garb. HOOK'EM HORNS!! (Zach actually took this picture of me & I think it came out pretty good!)
This banner faced the crowd and hung above the entry-way doors. There were about 300 + family and friends waiting to see their loved ones. DJ Tony was great as usual and kept us entertained with great songs like YMCA!
A homemade sign behind where we sat waiting anxiously for John's arrival
Zachary being silly!
Through the smoke machines came our guys and gals! John was actually one of the first ones into the gym, so I was able to spot him right off. Can you? Hint: his chrome-dome is covered, but his trusty green bag is right by his side!
The crowd was blazing and you could feel the excitement down to your bones. No wonder why I couldn't get a clean shot. Even with this picture of John looking straight at the camera, he still didn't see us until we were throwing our arms around him.
